I made a slideshow using windows movie maker and pictures I found online. When I sent it through my email, and tried opening it on a friends computer, the pictures come up as red Xs meaning they're missing files. I can't browse for them because they're saved on my computer and not hers...so how can I get the pictures to show on a computer other than my own?

Simply,,, when you make your movie clip or slide show you just make a shortcut to your individual files,, and not the file itself,, so,,when you open it on your computer,, it get the files from their location and represnt the clip,,,so you have to make it again and save it as one file in a WMV format,,and not as movie maker project

You never finished your project. There are 2 things you can save with Movie Maker: 1) A project 2) A movie

You sent your friend the project, not the movie. Open the project again and click file, then choose Save Movie File. If you intend for your friend to watch the movie on their computer, then save it as a PC movie. Then send the finished movie not the project.

A project is actually an unfinished movie (like a work in progress) it refers to the pictures stored on your computer. A movie combines the pictures and everything else in the project into one really big file that has it all.

Windows movie maker works by knowing where the pictures are located. You need to send her the pictures as well, in a folder of the same name as on your computer, and have her put it in the exact same location as on your computer... the file names on both computers should be identical (I am assuming that she is trying to play it in Movie Maker). If you saved it by selecting "save project as", then it can only be played in movie maker.

The other option is to save the file as a finished project. It should appear as a .WMV or equivalent file that can be played in media player. If you save it by selecting "save movie file", then it should be playable as a stand alone file. Open your saved project and try that.

Hope this helps.
