For the past four months I have had recurring dreams about huge Tsunamis - one right after the other during the night and occuring multiple times per week. I am always in this same area, in a house right on the coast. I see the huge waves forming in the distance and my husband and I try to escape. Once I escaped to this city by the lake, on other occasions I return to the house that has taken a beating but is remarkably still standing. This dream continues through the night multiple times. I never die in these dreams but tend to escape and go back. My husband and I are actually planning to take a beach vacation, one last one before we try IVF - fertility problem diagnosed as my husband. I don't know if this has anything to do with the dreams. I have read many interpretations in books and on the Internet, but I was wondering if anyone else has similar dreams or original ideas about what they could mean?

I'm getting the sense from all of this that the tsunamis in the dream represent the problem you and your husband are facing, and the city by the lake is symbolic of the vacation you are planning. You return to the destroyed house because you realize that after this vacation you will have to return to the real problems of the IVF, but the fact that it is still standing means that you have a lot of high hopes for the treatment you are about to try. If it's any comfort I think it's a good thing that in your dream you are running from the problem alongside your husband ... and not running from something representative OF your husband. This shows that you are not sub-consciously blaming him for the fertility problems. I think you want to pull together as a couple and overcome it. I think it says a lot about how loyal you are to him, how much you love him and how badly you want to have his child. It's really impressive actually. I'm no expert I just thought it would be a fun question to try and work out. Good luck with everything and if it makes you feel any better ... it took my husband and I about 4 years to conceive. Everyone told us it would happen but hearing that would just make me angry. Finally one day I just had a feeling I was pregnant and we bought a test that came out positive. I hope the same for you.

I can see at least change is scaring you subconsciously. Perhaps there is some underlying fear from the last Tsunami and all the hype about our coastal waterways being vulnerable.

However, there can stem another deeper seeded issue

Tidal Wave
To see a tidal wave in your dream, represents an overwhelming emotional issue that demands attention. You may have been keeping your feelings and negative emotions bottled up inside.

To dream that you can create a tidal wave with your mind, is analogous to your ability to control your emotions and keep them in line.

Tsunami
To see a tsunami in your dream, represents that you are being overwhelmed by some repressed feelings or unconscious material that is rising up to the surface. You are experiencing some unhappiness and emotional instability in some waking situation.
