Is it possible to electronically convert different frequencies of light (different colors) into a forms that are audible? (ie. help the blind to see?)

Yes!

You need one small solar cell, one small battery operated audio amplifier, one input jack for the amplifier and two 6" lengths of low gauge wire (one black one red). Solder Iron and solder.

Solder the the wire to the the + - poles of the solar cell and the other ends of the to the input jack. Plug the input jack into the audio amplifier. Now take the contraption outside and wait for the sunrise. Or if can't wait for the sunrise, turn on a light and see what happens.


It works! Believe it or not Bell invented the process before he invented the Telephone!

A photo cell will convert light to electricity, which can then be used to make sounds change. Of course a camera converts light into electricity with all the complicated patterns.

The problem is finding a way to input the information to the blind. There is a lot of information in a visual picture. Some people are working on using a small number of vibrating points to reproduce an image on a blind persons hand. Very low resolution.

Yes, U will hear the conductor blow the horn on the locomotive
before u see the light in most cases. If not your in bad shape.
