I'm going to a 1980's theme party, and Im lost for what to wear. What was the coolest thing in the 80's for fashion. I can't remember what I wore. How about hairstyles?
Also, what about for a guy? I need something for my husband and he is a big guy, Im kinda stuck! Please help, there is a cash prize for the best dressed and I would love that money!! :) Thanks for your help!!

big hair and legwarmers . an oversized shirt to one shoulder a big gaudy belt and leggings and and extra pair of leg warmers in a way different color. For your hubby make him wear tapered leg pants and a cheap do rag, and cut off the sleeves to a metallica shirt. if this isn't 80's i don't know what is. oh and reeboks shoes go to a salvation army they gotta have some reebok high tops there.

I'd look at movies and TV shows from that time period for ideas on what to wear. Movies like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ghostbusters, Die Hard, ET, the Pee-Wee films, and so on. TV shows like the A-Team, The Cosby Show, Knight Rider, and so on. Those can show you what people were wearing on a daily basis, and could give you an idea of what you and your husband might want to wear. The main things are to look at films and tv shows that are actually set in what at the time was the present, not a past or future era, nor on some distant world.
From what I read, your husband might want to consider wearing a Hawaiian shirt with a sport coat having a stitched look. You may want to consider acid washed jeans.

I just went to a regular party last night and for some reason this girl was dressed in a ridiculous 80s look. If you dressed like this i'm sure you'd win. Hot pink leggings, electric blue tank top, green sweater w/ one shoulder cut off, big belt, high side ponytail, lots of makeup.

I've gone to a few of these and I usually wear fishnets and a side ponytail with bleached jeans. You could crimp your hair and wear a lot of jewelry. For a guy I would say old sports jersey's maybe and old Reebok's with some cheap sunglasses. Have fun!

Okay, this is all from memory. (I fell really old now thank you)
Leg warmers were huge, we wore them over our jeans (which were all tight in the ankles). We wore lots of neon colors, and lots of jelly bangles (think Madonna and like a virgin).
We all wore our hair huge, lots of hairspray and teasing. Big bangs and curled for hours. Also lots of dark eye liner and make up.
Your husband should most definitely wear a pair of parachute pants (they were made from parachute type fabric) and a leather jacket with lots of zippers. Also 1 glove (think Michael Jackson).
Have fun. Remember, valley girls were all the rage then so say lots of stuff like like "Gag me with a spoon!"

OMGOMG i am the master. i wasn't alive, actually, but i did a project on 80s fashion last year. K, theres the flashdance thing, like big sweatshirts and leggings with legwarmers and crazy colors, and theres the punk princess madona thing (lace gloves, torn lace, etc)
hairstyles- side ponytail, HUGE hair with junk in it like spray and color, mullets, etc.
guys- im not really sure, but look it p on google, it'll tell you a ton
