John Wayne and Audy Murphy get my vote. There were a lot of good actors who played in great westerns. Jimmy Stewart is in some of my favorite westerns. Shenandoah and Fire Creek. Also, The Rare Breed. I wish they'd bring back the westerns.

John Wayne was my favorite western hero we used to watch him at my nan and grandads house every week when I was a child.
I also loved the show bonanza which was based around the Cartright family,they lived on a ranch and always got into trouble. not a western as such but still very good tv,
