I know that you can just fold a laptop and take it anywhere but why are they so much more expensive? Can you hook speakers and a printer up to a laptop like you can a desktop? nd i was just wandering if you have dialup how can you get online on a laptop if you go somewhere? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

A laptop is usually more expensive than an equivilant desktop. Portability is the best function of the laptop. Laptops are easier to steal or break. Keyboards are different. Laptops have pointing devices like touchpads that are far different than using a mouse. Laptop memory costs more. Operating systems are exactly the same.

Yes you can connect speakers, printers, scanners, etc.. ot a laptop. Depending on the laptop, some are wired for dialup & networking (wired or wireless). If not, then you need to purchase a modem card.

If you want the works on a laptop, expect to carry a lot of baggage besides a slim, trim little computer. You may need a carrying case, AC adapter, usb mouse, modem cards, wires, surge supressor.

Unless you need to be protable, get a ddesktop comp.

Smaller is not necessarily cheaper with computers. Laptops are much harder to work on
(for some things), and the parts are not near as universal. Generally, you will pay about double for a laptop that you do a comparable desktop. If money is a big issue, get a desktop. If portability is your priority, get a laptop.
If you have dialup you can get online if you go somewhere, but you would have to plug your computer into a telephone line, and that may or may not be readily available. Most people who use laptops use a wireless router and maybe a USB Network Adaptor. That way, if they are at an airport where there is a free wireless signal, they can plug in their wireless usb adaptor and get online at the airport.

A laptop is portable. You can take it anywhere. I don't know if you can hook printers or speakers up to it though. I doubt it. There more expensive because you can take them around with you.
