I am going to get a 29 gallon fish tank. I will make it brackish water. What type of filter should I use for this? Do I need anything else special to make this work??

Any filter is fine. The only equipment you really need is a hydrometer to measure salt content. And I'm sure you already know this, but make sure to use marine salt, not aquarium salt or table salt.

Any filter will do just fine, but you need a hydrometer, not a hygrometer! A hydrometer measures the density of water (adding salt will change the density). A hygrometer measures humidity in the air (needed for some reptiles). I keep both saltwater tanks and reptiles, so I have both! Just want to make sure you look for the product you need!
