You can work from home - millions do - but usually in their own businesses.

How to tell if it is a scam:

1) They make earning predictions that are very high.
2) They want you to pay to join the company and then make money.
3) The job consists of bringing other people into the company.
4) It involves no selling - there is not a business around that does not involve selling!
5) You can work a few hours and make lots of money!
6) It seems too good to be true.
7) The ad is surrounded by people with large houses and big cars!

eBay is the only workable home business that I know of.
Good luck.

I believe that any company that asks for upfront or initial payment/deposit for work at home jobs is likely to be a scam. There are a few legitimate companies who don't ask you for any kind of advance fee for offering you a work from home job.If you are interested in a home based job, many companies like LiveOps,Alpine Access, WorkathomeAgent, employ home based callers to answer phone calls for them.More information at http://tinyurl.com/ze4lg
