I have become so frustrated with fast food workers that I'm almost ready to quit going for fast food (which would probably be a good thing for me to do). One day I stopped at two places on my way home and both orders were wrong!
Part of the problem is that they are under so much pressure to get it done quickly (McDonalds has them on a timer, and that's where the majority of the wrong orders come from) and part of it is that this isn't a career for them and they don't care.
I do have to say that there are also some very good (and bright)
people working at these places, too. And if you call and ask to speak to a manager and are polite and reasonable with your complaint, they will often send you a certificate to replace the meal that was not what you ordered. Just hang on to your register receipt so that you can give them the information from it.

She may have just been having a bad day. Maybe someone else yelled at her the food not being done at the time they got to the window or something, which isn't her fault, but she got reamed for it. Then she gets flustered, takes your order, and is scatter brained, causing her to mess it up. These workers make crappy wages and take a lot of **** in the process. Next time, when you go to the window smile, tell her to calm down and have her recheck your order before it makes it out the door. If she is still a *****, you report her to her boss!

Fast food workers generally do have brains but I can imagine there's not much left to fuel them. Most of the fast food workers I know are also in college or university and most of their energy goes to that. By the time they get to work, there's usually not much left to fuel any sort of thinking process.
Also most of these people take hundreds if not thousands of orders, I'm sure it must all start to sound like jibberish after so many hours of working.
If your patient with them, and don't get upset when orders get mixed up then they aren't rude. In fact If I see someone treating someone ahead of me rude, I usually say something like "must be hard dealing with customers all day" They always respond positively and treat you with alot more curtasy, because most people don't give them any respect because of their job.

I got a job at McDonalds to work my way to grad school. I have a masters degree so I'm not stupid or anything. You wouldn't believe the background noise those headsets pick up. Also she's got her own background noise to deal with, people talking and buzzers going off, and trying to take one person's order while taking another's money. It can be a bit distracting and aggrevating to her, especially on a busy day.

It is simple: quit going to Mc Donalds. When you have a job where no one looks up to you it is easy to act dumb. I am sure the employees wonder if the costumers have brains too. I know I would not want to do their job.

I think the problem is those radios that you order from. You really can't hear people very well.

Of course they don't have brains, that's why they are working in fast food instead of having a real job.
