When a player has the ball on offense they have a variety of options when guarded one on one. Most times a cross-over dribble or head fake can clear space but when that doesn't work occaisionally and offensive player with try to drive into the defenders space with the hope of putting the defender on their heels. When the defender beats the offensively player to that spot the offensive player will make body to body contact. Since the defender got to the spot first the offensive player's momentum will still be leaning in the direction they we're going(I.E. a tell tale dip of the shoulders) this has been determined by basketball officials to be the leading tell tale sign of an offensive foul.

Its when your driving to the basket and you drop your shouldere to send it into the defender to get him out of your way.A lot of players dont like it when they catch a shoulder in the chest.

It means crouch low protect the ball and make him look like he is coming over on top of you and then he will get the foul instead of you getting the charge. Unless one or more of the players is female.
