i am trying to findout how to set up my two laptops that have the same atheros wireless chip that is 802.11 to connect with each other for file shareing so i don't have too burn a cd and stuff. if it possible, how do i set it up.

Yes, 2 ways

Without a router.
Set both adapters up as peer to peer. The default is to connect to an access point. Hardcode each IP address static, like 11.11.11.1 and 11.11.11.2 and tell each the gateway is 11.11.11.1
Make sure each is in the same workgroup and then Turn file sharing on on each laptop.

With a router.
Connect each to the SSID of the wireless router.
Make sure each is in the same workgroup and then Turn file sharing on on each laptop.
