Cell Phone Troubles?

My brother gave me a phone(just to play around w/) just recently it keeps asking for the SIM #, but he doesn't know where the SIM card is, after messing around with it, it finally let me put in *#06#, then it goes to a bunch of #s (356866000139760) I've tried putting them in where i put in *#06#, but it won't accept it. PLS HELP!! Thank U

That number is the ESN (electronic serial number) to the phone. It is a GSM phone so it needs a SIM(which is its brain) card to work.
If you do not have a sim card the phone will only call 911..
