Let me understand this: You mapped the drive and you really don't care whether you can get to it, but you want to stop the notification that says it's not avaialble. SIMPLEST thing to do is unmap the drive until you want it and know that computer is on. NO BIG DEAL.

Aside from that, look in the properties and settings area of the mapped drive. Seems to me there might be an option to turn that warning on or off. If not, then it's probably a registry thing and that's brain surgery unless you really know what you're doing.

You may not be able to turn THAT warning off, but you should heed the following warning:
"Windows Vista IS a poor quality product, and you will have much difficulties with Drivers, applications, security
, and hardware compatability. Dont even think of buying it for at least 2 years and until you have tried a free operating system, Kubuntu, first, at www.kubuntu.org"
It sounds like the warning came too late for you, but hopefully not for others.

i think of this is the modem attempting to authenticate your connection .. abode windows vista sends a lot of stupid and annoying messages everytime something happens, whether you prefer to alter a number of the settings, a pop up will show asking you approximately it ... by skill of ways, Keyboard and Mouse use Bluetooth instantaneous technologies, that's very short, no extra advantageous than 10 meters oftentimes ... mutually as internet instantaneous connection makes use of WiFi technologies, so they're already separate protocols. in basic terms turn on your Firewall and don't hassle ... if somebody needs to hack your computing device ... they are going to be good sufficient to do it...
