I have a friend that is only 14 years old and she's getting drunk at parties. Shes my best friend but she moved to a different state last year and is the same girl except that shes getting into parties and stuff. I just talked to her and she was so hungover. I try to tell her its like bad and shes just like "I can control myself. I only had a few shots last night. I can control myself. Gosh you sound like my mom..." Im scared for her - my sister almost died of drinking to much and it really scared me. What should I do - Ive told her everything but she keeps saying she can control herself.

some people just have to learn the hard way and hit bottom and figure it out themselves.

I'm with the 2nd answerer. Find a way to let her mother know what's going on. I know it's scary, but her parents are the people who have to intervene. If they are not active in their parenting and not noticing that she is coming home drunk etc... tell your mother or another adult you trust so that you can feel better about it.

You could have your sister talk to your friend as well, or have her write a letter to your friend explaining her choices and how they affected her. Maybe your friend will be able to see the similarities in herself and think about it a little more.

At the very least, let your friend know how much you care about her and that her actions scare you.

Good Luck and kudos to you for being a good friend and caring so much.

Sounds like she's having some fun. Wish i did when i was 14. Tell her she's better staying of the alcohol and smoking a little weed instead if its just a buzz she is after. She shouldn't do anything her spirit can't kill and that would put her in a dangerous situation and weed usually enhances the ability to make good desicions unlike alchohol wich makes you dizzy and throw up. Make sure she is with good company and with a responsible freind to look out for her.

There's not much you can do i suppose, especially if shes in another state. maybe try talking to her parents if you're that concerned about her. lots of people start drinking at young ages, there isnt much you can do, i know that for a fact, the best thing to do is try to watch over her, call her from time to time to make sure she IS controlling herself. but like i said this might be hard becuase shes moved away.

I think your a really good friend and person to care for her so much. I think if she keeps saying she can control herself and she really cant you can still worry for her but let her learn the hard way. Let her fall down and maybe she'll realize. People learn from mistakes. You can help her out when she needs help getting up again.

Teenagers are notoriously stupid when it comes to taking care of themselves. Personally, I would leave her alone. Friends in bad situations can pull you down faster than you can pull them up. She isn't your responsibility, but if you really feel like you need to do something, use common sense. Calling the police might be going a little overboard, so try contacting her parents.

In cases where my close friends drank heavily, I found out it was to cover a deep fear of being inadequate regarding something existing in their life. Examples; Not attractive enough, not making enough money, not living up to expectations in someone else's eyesight, disappointing their families, etc, AS her friend share with her something you fear about yourself. Give her reason to be concerned about you. This will allow her an avenue to open with her problem as an example to you giving you insight on why she drinks.

Tell her mom or the cops or somebody. If she decides to find out her own way then so be it.

IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE YOU ARE GETTING THRU TO HER BY TALKING TO HER. YOU MAY WANT TO TALK TO HER FOLKS. SHE NEEDS TO GET THIS IN CONTROL QUICKLY IT CAN LEAD TO SOME VERY DANGEROUS TERRITORY. GOOD LUCK. AND YOU ARE A TRUE FRIEND.
