Wondering if anyone has heard of any ebay scams concerning Highest bidder offers and western union of payment through ebay. I've had a similar offer and want to be cautious in this process. Thanks in advance for your answers. Everything appears to be legit.

Here is the deal. I placed a bid for an item and the item auction closed because because the reserve was not met. Afterwards I get an email from (supposidly the seller) offering to sell it to me for the bidded price. Wants payment through western union. An invoice is sent from ebay? (looks legit) instucting me how to send payment to seller by western union. Myself and the seller are to split the price that western union charges to make payment.

Mr. Mister,

"Wondering if anyone has heard of any ebay scams concerning Highest bidder offers and western union of payment through ebay."

YES! all day long on the Trust and Safety Board!

ebay tells you on EVERY auction to NEVER, EVER send WESTERN UNION!!

"An invoice is sent from ebay? (looks legit)"

it is NOT legit! do NOT fall for this! it is a well known SCAM!!

please, report the seller to ebay. do it NOW!

unless you are a winner on the actual auction page, then you didn't WIN anything, except the chance to be SCAMMED!

My husband bought an item off of eBay, and paid for it, yet right after the seller canceled his account, so we had to go through eBay security to get our money back. I haven't heard of anything like you are talking about, but I always look for high number of sells, good feedback etc. Hope this helps you out.
