My boyfriend and i have started messing around a month ago. I had discharge and an itching, burning sensation of my vagina/vulva. I went to my doctor and she did a pap smear, saying I had an yeast infection (very first one) and a bladder infection. I thought it went away, and we started messing around again. During intercourse, i have a really burning sensation in my vagina that really hurts. but then discharge came again, but not the burning/itching. so i thought i had another yeast infection because it started a few days before my period. so i went to the store and bought monistat. it's a week later, and discharge is still somewhat coming out. and it still burns during intercourse, and now my vulva has been all red and swollen for the past few days. what is wrong? i need advice. i know i should make another doctor's appoitment...but maybe i still have an yeast infection??? please help.

It sounds to me like it's very possible that you may still have a yeast infection, but you may also have something else. Sometimes women (especially sexually active women) get bacterial infections that have symptoms similar to yeast infections which cause vaginitis (the symptoms you describe). I strongly suggest that you DO make another Dr.'s appt. right away. It's also possible that although you may have gotten rid of your first infection, you could have gotten re-infected. Yeast infections often recur, and it's even possible to keep getting re-infected with other things from your boyfriend, even if he has no symptoms. Tell your Dr. everything.

Yeast infections can be caused from several things. Are you using a condom? If so, try another brand, if not, you should be. Possible to have given it to your b/f and he just gave it back to you. If your pants are too tight this can cause it as well.
It's important you pee after having sex too.
See a doctor, it could be more than just yeast.
