Let's see, Jimmy Carter sat back and did nothing when Americans were held hostage, negotiated with terrorists, launched a joke of a rescue attempt after months that was a complete failure, gave away the Panama canal that Americans died to build, mismanaged the economy completely, had economy policies that lead to massive unemployment and inflation, etc, etc...
It took Reagan four years just to get the country out of the trash heap that Carter put us in.

a lot of people say carter was the worst president because he served during their lifetime. they remember him, they remember the problems that the country was facing.
nobody today was alive during the Fillmore presidency or very few were alive during the Harding administration. people have not researched or are educated about the presidents of 75 or more years ago. the only thing that they can compare carter to is the most recent presidents that they are familiar with.
carter probably gets too much blame for some of the things that happend during his years. some of the problems had their beginnings before he took office.
i dont think that he was a very effective president. not the all time worst, though. he is/was a good man.

I don't think he was the worst, but if you want a little insight into the constant problem we have with the Middle East, look no further than the Carter Doctrine:
"Let our position be absolutely clear: An attempt by any outside force to gain control of the Persian Gulf region will be regarded as an assault on the vital interests of the United States of America, and such an assault will be repelled by any means necessary, including military force."

Jimmy Carter, allowed our military to fall to a level of unpreparedness during the cold war and allowed the Russians to get an upper hand on us during this critical time in history. He also gets the blame for the 1970's oil embargo that effected us. He basically was a peace time president in a war time era. There were some very good things he did but they will always be trumped by his lack of military prowess.
However, I think clearly G. Bush will go down as one of the worse presidents in U.S. history, right next to Nixon.
Hate Reagen if you will and trust me I'm no fan of Reagan but I will give the man credit where credit is due. Yes, Reagen screwed up our economy and did not care about social issues in our country but what Reagen will always get credit for is that Reagen defeated the Russians and to a greater extent communism. That is a seriously important feat and that victory alone, launched Reagen into the category as one of the best presidents ever, had he not defeated the Russians he would not have been admired by so many.

His presidency wasn't great, but neither was Jefferson, Harding, Cleveland, Truman, Johnson, and both Bush Sr. and Jr.
At least he was honest comparing to the Presidents that follows:
Reagan (Iran Contra affairs and many, many other things)
Bush Sr. ("Read My Lips, No New Taxes!"... LOL)
Clinton ("I Did Not Have Sex with Monica Lewinsky" and Rwanda)
Bush Jr. ("Iraq has Weapons of Mass Destruction")
And I am sick and tired of hearing conservatives telling me how great Reagan was, HE WASN'T. His environmental record is bad, his Reaganomics didn't help the lower and middle income people and it put us in a bigger debt, he was a big supporter of mass consumerism, and he increased the military industrial complex during peacetime.
I'm sorry but there's nothing in the world that can convince me that making laws that only benefits the rich 5% of the nation can benefit the entire nation. It never has and it never will.

ONLY BECAUSE President carter showed the GUTS to CRITICIZE ISRAEL by exposing how israel practices apartheid, and genocide in his latest book - Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid .
A very gutsy man is now being tried by the Zionists in American media. shame on American people who allows israel to tear the AAmerican fabric of life.

Gave away the Panama Canal, to a dictator. Lost the hostages in 1979, to a dictator. Made our great country a laughing stock of the world. Let unemployment and inflation run out of control. We would have been better off if that rabbit had attacked him in that canoe.

He is just in a state of flux.
Or as liberals say he needs to get his flux capacitor realigned.
He has gone from a bare foot peanut farmer to president, home builder, international election observer, Nobel Prize winner to anti Semitic Jew basher.
He need to get his flux capacitor realigned.

He combine a foreign policy of appeasement with a domestic policy of raising taxes and increasing entitlements. He called his recession a malaise and did nothing to try to get out of it. He gutted the military and in doing so killed thousand upon thousands of american jobs.
