"Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat." - Mother Teresa

I disagree with this quote. A human being cannot die without love, but illness, violence, starvation, lack of shelter...those things can KILL a man. Love can be lived without. So why is love such an important icon in our (American) culture, especially considering the fact that so many (kids) commit suicide yearly supposedly because they're in lack of it? People are so ungrateful nowadays, especially teenagers. Maybe that guy in SAW was right.

Okay, I admit that I'm an extremely lucky girl. I have a great family, wonderful friends, I'm reasonably pretty, extremely smart, I have an extreme passion, lots of talents, and I don't really get sick a lot. And I'm 15 years old. And I really am grateful for what God has given me and what I've worked for. But thing about being grateful for what you have is that nobody's life is perfect. Every single person, no matter how good their lives seem, is missing something. And it's just human nature to want to better ourselves, and in order to better ourselves, we have to strive to get what we don't have. You can call that not being grateful for what you have, but I think of it more as wanting to better yourself as much as you possibly can.

I agree that especially the young, dont appreciate how good they're lives are.
Reason: Applys especially to the Baby boomer Parents, they also had to much, because of it, they're kids recieved too much to soon and now, since they did'nt have to work for it, can NOT appreciate the values or the dollar and come to expect that things are given to them.
( THERE ARE EXEPTIONS OF COURSE) you know who I'm talking about.
It is human nature that if things come easy, we're not able to appreciate.
Love is not only important to USA, LOVE IS IMPORTANT PERIOD!
There are many kinds of love but all of us that are the recipient of love, are rich, much richer than never have felt love or recieved love.
Not being a native of USA and experienced having only what's necessary to live (no extras) I am sad to see the Americans trowing away soooo much of the good things available by not appreciating the wealth of opportunities, the kindness of others, not showing respect, loosing all manners(what's that????) etc...
If we learn to love more, I do believe we would be a better people.
UNTILL WE STOP BEING SOOOO.. GREEDY, THE WORLD WILL BE GETTING WORSE AND WORSE.
IN GOD WE TRUST, IN GOD WE TRUST! See, that's another thing, another good thing that we are told we should not do, so many good and strong pieces(needet for a good foundation) is being taken away. Untill we take a stand and demand to leave the GOOD alone, we will continue to be an ungrateful nation.
I now write on all my corresponding mail, " IN GOD WE TRUST" OR "THINK GOD" I am taking a stand and if more of us that believe in God would follow with only that much, we would start moving in the right direction of changing for the better. What do you think?
