the first thing you want to do when factoring is look to see if there is a common factor is everything listed.
when you look you will see that they all have 1 x in them.
factor out the common factor
x(2x^2 - 9x + 10)
now look at what is inside the parenthesis and start to factor by making 2 binomials. look at the first term. It can only be factored this way
x(2x )(x )
Now look at the sign on the last number. It is a positive (+). That means that both the signs are the same. look back to the sign on the second number. It is a negative (-). They are both negative.
x(2x - )(x - )
Now look at the last number. It is 10. What 2 numbers when multiplied together give you 10. It is either 10 and 1 or 5 and 2. Test them so that when you foil the problem you end up with a 9 in the second spot.
x(2x - 5)(x - 2)
There you go.

2x^3-px^2+10x
First take out the gcf (x). Now you have:
x(2x^2-9x+10)
Now you can factor the trinomial
x (x-2) (2x-5)
There is your answer : )
x (x-2) (2x-5)

take out x
x(2x^2 - 9x + 10)
look for two numbers that multiply to 20 and add up to -9
-4 and -5
2x^2 - 4x - 5x + 10
factor by groups
(2x^2 - 4x ) + (-5x + 10)
2x(x - 2) + -5(x-2)
x (2x-5) (x-2)
hope this helps

Break the mid term in two
2x^3-4x^2-5x^2+10x
Take 2x as common from first two terms and -5 as common
from second pair.
Now when you divide 2x^3-4x^2 by 2x you will get x^2-2x
Now when you divide 5x^2-10x by -5 you will get x^2-2x
=2x(x^2-2x)-5(x^2-2x)
Now take (x^2-2x) as common from the remaining two terms.
I think that the step next does not need clearification.
(x^2-2x) ( 2x-5)
Hope to answer the question upto satisfaction.
