Poor people are increasing in Japan these days. The gap between the poor and the rich is getting widened like that of America.

They are always criticizing the government about it. They also criticize the education system, saying kids' abilities are deteriorating thanks to it.

All same as in America. haha

In private they will. Being a japanese born in the United States, one would think I would not know. I have known and worked with Japanese and have visited Japan. They have what I call "island" mentality. It's like what you saw on Gilligan's Island. Don't complain to the group, it does not good to. Do what is best for the group. Try to keep peace within the as best you can. You can not go far.

Publicly even in the newspapers you will not see the negatives. In the TV news you rarely see negative things. If you ever watch their Morning programs, it is almost sickening how syrupy sweet they are. And talk or write something negative about the Emperor and the family, forbidden. A newspaper could lose it access to the palace if it ever did. If you want the real news you have to switch to CNN Hong Kong.

Good question

It's probably because they're EXTREMELY proud of they're country and they believe in respect... A lot... Looking at someone for a long time is considered rude in they're country....

ps. I'm NOT Japanese.

Oh they do - they do!! To each other anyway, if not to you! But they won't appreciate it if a foreigner comes along and starts slagging off their country!

Is that surprising? Consider how much you complain about your own country - then imagine if a bunch of low-life foreigners came to visit or live and started criticising everything about the place. It gets your goat - so to speak - after all, it's not THEIR country so they have no right to complain, especially as they can just up sticks and LEAVE if they don't like it!!

Many do...There's alot of anti-government people there. They're just smart enough to be quiet about it.
