17 years ago today I walked in on my wives affair in my own bedroom. I have been in counseling for 16 years since the event. She took everything from me, my pride, dignity, my heart and most of all MY CHILDREN. She has since married a very wealthy marketing something or another, and I need to know if their is any laws against suing an ex-wive for mental distress, pain and suffering, and abandonment.

17 years is a long time to hold a grudge I think for your mental health you need to get over it and let it go. Get on with your life and start the business of living.

There are two major impediments to your lawsuit:
First, you were already involved in a lawsuit with your wife; its called a divorce and the presumption is that all of the issues of the marriage were settled therein. If you had any other claims arising out of the marriage they would have had to be brought up at that time. Second, it has been 17 years, any statute of limitations would have run long ago. It is difficult to get through these things but suing her really will not help you to heal. I am sure that your counselor has told you that.

That suxs man, so sorry. You think there should be something but I dont think there is. Its called broken heart with a bunch of cr*p....you have to dig deep to get over it. You cant change what happened and you are still giving in to her by letting this keep bothering you. You have to dig deep and get over it, sorry it sounds harsh. You need to stand up on your own two feet and learn to smile again, date again, trust again. You need to put all that trash in the memory bank and start living again.
