21. mechanical disestion requiers the movement of something to cause break down of food, example: digestion with the use of the teeth is mechanical, digestion in the stomach is also mechanical, but also the stomach includes chemical digestion by secreting chemicals ex: pepsin(enzyme) that catalayzes protein break down.

22.amylase role: is an enzyme that digests carbohydrates.
pepsin: enzyme that digests protiens

HCl(hydrochloric acid) provides an ideal medium thats essential for the digestion in the stomach, by providing and acidic medium that activates the trypsin and pepsin enzymes.

bile plays the same role but it provides a basic meduim for the digestion in the small intestine.

23. villi look like long narrow protrusions in the lumen of the small intestine, the increase the surface area of the intestine, therefore increasing the absorbtion of nutrients from the intestine to the blood or lymph.

24.the digestive system helps maintain homeostasis by releasing energy in the form of heat when digesting the macromolecules, in addition by providing glucose and other sources of energy that are broken down further releasing heat.

29. the skin execrets water in the form of sweat to help cool down one.

lungs execrets surfactants that disable the alvioli of lungs from embeding into one another, therefore mantaining a high surface area.

liver execrets 2 main hormones including insulin and glucagon that control the level of glucose in the blood.
