Make sure you eat beforehand, take a deep breath while the poke is happening and exhale as the blood is being taken. It does help.

well either you can take a medical assistant course to get over the anxiety of needles or you can just stay calm blood draws dont have any side effects and rarely have anything at all go wrong. Depending upon what you are getting tested for will determine if you can eat before or not and if the answer is not then pack some sprite or juice with you incase they dont have any where you get the draw at then when they call you back you can always put on music headphones close your eyes and take a deep breath let them do the work the headphones and music shouldnt bother them just explain your nervous and dont like needles by the time you listen to music and take a deep breath they will have it done and over with just dont look at the stuff they use or dont watch during setup then just close the eyes until done hope that helps

Ask for the most experienced person to perform the blood draw. This person will be able to do it quickly - and most importantly, he/she will get it done on the first try. There's nothing worst than being pricked over and over by an inexperienced person. Tell him or her that you're nervous. Look clear to the other side of the room during the entire thing, including the preparation work. Continue taking deep breaths until it's over.

Most laboratories have recliners you can sit in during the test. Before you get up, ask them for an orange juice or grape juice. They will be accomadating of you if you tell them you are nervous.

ugh i hate havin my blood drawn!! i always get queasy and dizzy....
make sure you eat something about 1 hour before,
take slow deep breaths during,
dont stand up immidiately after,
tell the nurse beforehand that your really nervous and she'll also help you
good luck-remember it only lasts a second or two!!
