How can i protect folders i have on my pen drive or pc hard drive with a password??

Also if it cant be done just using windows xp does anyone know a program i can download for free that will secure these folders and files.

i am also not given the option to password protect just by right clicking on the folder or file.

right click on the folder and it will give you the option to assign password protection

yes you can put a password on your files, WITHOUT any extra software! all you need is a windows xp! (might work with other operating systems but im not sure) here is how you can do this:

go to the file you want to protect>right click on the file then put you pointer on "send to" than click on "compressed (zipped) folder"> now go in to the folder (it will now be a zipped folder) right click (dos not mater were) than click "add a password"> and then all the files in that folder are under password protection!!!

I use MySecretFolder XP application for protecting folders. Realy good application!

Download openoffice at openoffice.org

These are similar to Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel, but for free. When you save something, at the bottom you have an option to create pass on it.

You can't the only way you can do something like that is to use winzip or winrar to archive them then password them you'll probably be better off with winrar check it out here http://www.winrar-stop.com/index.asp?s=go-uk&a=winrar
