Yesterday, I went to the mall with a little over $160.00.
I shopped at Abercrombie & Fitch, abercrombie Kids, and Hollister.
I left the mall with six articles of clothing and an empty wallet (except for some loose change).
I'm 14-years-old, and it's a very common teenage act to spend large sums of money on materialistic needs.
Even though I earned the money, I felt very uneasy about the whole shopping experience even though my mom doesn't care how I spend my own money.
Why do I feel so dead and shallow on the inside?
What should I do about it?

it sounds to me like maybe you were shopping for more than just the clothing, somehow deep down hoping to buy happiness or some experience. But when you actually purchased these items, you only wound up with a pile of clothes.

Return your purchases and take the same amount and use it differently or hold onto it. Ask yourself where you really would like your money to go. Do what feels right to you. If you feel uneasy about anything you do, pull back, don't do it. You're not always going to have an answer for why you feel uneasy. And you don't always need one.

money means different things to different people. Try to enjoy it now as when you are older it will probably go on bills, council tax, petrol and food. If you still feel bad try to do some good with a little of your money - donate some to a charity of your choice, buy someone who is homeless a meal, send some dog food to the animal shelter - you will feel good then knowing that you did somethings for someone else as well as yourself.

because your at an age you know you need to start doing something creative with your time.
your self is telling you this.that you need something, but what?
you need to get a hobby possibly.that you enjoy and put your money into it so you can truly enjoy life.
I bought a white German Shepard puppy .female. AKC registered when I was 14,and she would have 10 to 14 pups, i sold them twice a year when she would have those great pups, and made money.
I bought and sold old furniture .did all kinds of things I enjoyed doing that brought me money and something I liked doing, you have a need to DO something, not just spend money, don't you think?get interested in something that satisfies you.
personally. having the spirit of God with me helped me quite a bit.I am never alone, it guides me and directs me.
I wish you the very best.

Well, the people who work at your chosen stores are just pretty faces who are "asked" to work at those stores because of their looks. Trying to compare yourself to them is very disheartening and only takes into consideration appearance rather than substance. I would suggest spending time with good friends who appreciate you for who you are and not the shallow visions you see in the stores. Consider shopping on line or with a friend.
Its not about money, its about how you feel about yourself. Those are unrealistic expectations you see in stores. Its almost like going to the store and trying on all size 4s when you are a size 8. You feel terrible about yourself.

What an insightful young woman you are! Feeling good really happens when we do something for others- I know that sounds corny- but it's true! And it can often be a very small act of kindness that brings a smile to someone- Usually old dogs, old people, and little kids are the best to work with - unfortunately, others are apt to be suspicious of your actions- I do hope you try this- its really doing something wonderful for yourself. God Bless
