I've been watching it for 26 years, and it does indeed seem to be circling the drain. It's not the actors, it's the lameness of the skits. They need new writers, someone who can think of jokes other than those involving bodily functions. Last night I thought that maybe I was just getting too old for it, and maybe their writing for a new generation of viewers. I hate to see it happen. I've been watching Studio 60 and it made me a little more sympathetic towards SNL, but now they've yanked that show. Every time they come up with a good show, they yank it. I loved Commander in Chief with Geena Davis as the President, but they cancelled that, too. I think they want to be the MORON network.

When Saturday Night Live is great they really only score about 20% of the night... on a good year. Then the talented most talented people move on (as they should) and it takes 3 or 4 years and for them to find a new groove.
Some of the current cast are actually talented and funny, but I don't think they've hit their stride yet and the show itself isn't doing hitting...
In my humble opinion...

SNL has always had it's ups and downs. It is just the nature of the show. Wait awhile and they will spit out some great talent sooner or later (a new Ferrel, Fay, etc etc) But the days of talent like Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray are LLLOOOOONNNGGGG gone.

I do! It was really bad last night. I don't know who the host was but he wasn't funny. The show needs to be canceled or revamped with a new cast and writers.
