Patrick C, that's an amazing answer. Thanks. I love the moment near the end, when Kyra Sedgwick is rocking on the porch, watching the trees blow in the wind and realizing that George is with her. Make my cry like a ninny every time. ;-)

He realized that all life is connected. That the wind and the trees, the deer and him were all connected to everything else and that we live in a sea of life and He went to the next level of awareness with that realization. It was an enchanted moment for him.

i think it goes to the statement he made about the largest living organism which is a grove of trees, i could have also meant that he accepted his death and knew he had to leave enough information behind to help those who loved him just as much as he loved them. or maybe it just meant that he knew he would continue to live after his death by way of people remembering him and soil he was buried in. kind of like the great circle of life no pun intended
