I honestly think it depends on who is around the guy. Heterosexual men are very afraid that people will think they are gay because people think that gay people are unmanly. Only guys who are very secure with themselves can freely and openly compliment the looks of other guys. And here's a little secret... on the rare occasion that a straight guy gives a sincere compliment on the looks of another guy, guys don't get offended by it and usually take it well. and they usually even feel good about it. Guys don't like to admit it, but it is actually important to men what other men think about them, especially friends. All of my straight friends have no problem letting their hair down around me and point out good looking guys. the truth is that men, BEING men themselves, DO know what a good looking guy is, no matter how much they deny it. We are not so much different than you ladies are about it noticing other beautiful women. Women simply have the guts and the GRACE to admit when another woman is beautiful.

Exactly! I've always wondered this. I think it's a stupid double standard. Straight guys are paranoid about being called gay if they admit that another man is good-looking. Us women can freely admit another chick is pretty and don't get called lesbians. I hate this. There is a difference between admiring another person's physical beauty and being sexually attracted to them. I love it when a straight guy can admit another man is handsome. It shows alot of security and open mindedness.

I just had this argument with my male friend the other day. I saw a guy that was really good looking, so I said Wow isn't he hot, he looked at me & said I'm not gay so in return I got mad & said yeh I know I wish you were than maybe you'd have more self confidence. I can say another girl is pretty. I have come to the conclusion over the years that straight men are just jerks

Straight men are, for the most part, taught that there can only be one attractive man in the room. If they admit that another guy is sexy or handsome then it's challenging to their ego or they're afraid it might make them look interested. It might be a kind of alpha male (in your own mind) kinda thing. If you compliment another guy he becomes competition and you lower yourself for admitting it.
I know that that's a generalization and doesn't apply to all straight guys by any means :),
Cheers,

Well I can admit when a guy is good looking but I'm gay. I can still admit when a girl is good looking. Some are hot but i wouldn't be able to have a relationship with one since I am emotionally attracted toward guys.

I have no problem admitting if I think a guy is attractive. Sometimes I wonder what you women are thinking when calling some guys attractive, but that's something that we, as men, will never understand.

Straight men fear their sexuality and their masculinity being torn away from them if they admit another's beauty. Its just the way they are wired. They believe that they should be promoted and respected and that being perceived as anything else would interfere with their machismo.

If a man states that another man is handsome and they are not homosexual, then they are secure enough in their man hood to admit the obvious. I personally find it a fine quality in a heterosexual person weather it be male or female

I agree with you; it's a double standard. However, most men don't feel comfortable about admitting stuff like this. It also goes back to how a man is "supposed" to act. It's silly I know but I don't think it's ever gonna change.
Thanks for a good question. ^_^

Because people have a stereotype that guys are naturally sex-crazy beings, and people think girls are less sexual.
It's more of a stupid society pressure thing.
