i have had a best friend for as long as i can remember. she has never missed any of my parties, and i've never missed any of hers. yesterday i had my birthday party. i already knew she couldn't come because she had sports practice, but my other friend could come. i called the person that couldn't come this morning and her mom picked up and she said she had spent the night at her friend's house- the girl who was at my party! do you think that this is rude or am i just overreacting? please let me know.

I think you are over reacting. They are friends with you and each other. I wouldn't let it bother you.

It's hard to tell who did what to who because you kept writing the girl and I really don't know who is who. If she lied to you, then its wrong or if she said she would come and didn't then that's rude. Confront her and ask her why she did this when she said she would come to your party. If she gives you a reasonable answer, be relieved and invite her again to your next party only if she apolagizes. If she lies to your face or gives you some stupid answer tell her that you are uspet and don't invite her again.

The girl who came to your party didn't want to be there either, but came so you wouldn't feel bad. After the party they just hung out and had a jammie party without you. Find new friends.

I think it was rude. She should have told you straight up and not lied to your face. Confront her. "Why didn't you just tell me you were going to her house? I would not have been as hurt as I am now. You lied to me. Friends don't do that to each other." Then just walk away.
