Fuel is what your vehicle uses in its internal combustion engine. The next question is, is it a diesel engine? if so, do not put gas in it. It could explode. Gasoline is used in many cas and trucks. Diesel is also used in many. Gas ,the short of gasoline, really means the gaseous phase of matter, which gasoline is not. Today they are looking into many other types of fuel from hydrogen to solar to electric to natural gas. Then there is the ethanol mix in gasoline. and soy diesel and cooking oil.

No, not always. You can always call gasoline "fuel," but you can't call all fuels "gasoline".

Fuel can be diesel or any substance (coal, hydrogen, kerosene, food) that powers something. Fuel is a general term. Gasoline (and there are hundreds of different kinds of gasoline) is a specific type of fuel.
