we rescued a dragon tree that hadn't been re-potted in years and its roots were all wrapped round a tiny pot. we cut the pot off it and repotted it in compost and soil in a big pot and since then the leaves have been going yellow. its in the living room which is quite warm and bright (maybe too warm??) I've given it plant tonic which is specifically for yellow leaves but its getting worse. Any ideas what I can do to revive it?

I apologize on behalf of the person who sent you the first reply. I'd report that if I were you.

I don't know what a Dragon tree is, but yellowing leaves usually are a sign of nutritional deficiency; maybe nitrogen or also maybe iron. I would try a balanced fertilizer with trace elements. Any garden store can recommend one for you. Follow the label instructions.

To further confuse you, some plants will yellow and loose leaves just from having their circumstances changed such as being repotted or being moved to another location. This is a passing condition and does not need to be treated. Skin back a small section of bark along one of the upper branches that has lost its leaves. If the layer underneath is green, and/or also if the outer bark is showing tiny leaf buds, it probably will be Ok without you having to do anything.

Good luck

Sometime old leaves yellow and fall off
