Mutual respect, understanding, patience, compassion, thoughtfulness, kindness and love. A willingness to turn a blind eye to minor faults and to appreciate fully the other's qualities. An ability to communicate openly & respectfully. An ability to find humor in each other's quirks and to be supportive of one another during difficult times. Being able to forgive each other when someone gets hurt. Having an ability to give unselfishly to each other & to bring out the best in each other. Being each other's best friend. These all make for a good marriage.

I have always fantasized being in the best marriage.

To me, it would be a loving partnership filled with hard work, hard play, and infinate reward.
There would be forgiveness and understanding and growth. There would be connection and communication and hardly any awkwardness because we would know each other so well.

If we disagreed about something we would find a common ground, and if we had an occasional fight, we would make sure to make up quickly and thoroughly.

Trust and love would just continue to grow between us. Whenever one of us got bored or felt things were going stale we would talk about it, and figure out what needed attention in response.

We would be truly happy. We wouldn't have a perfect life, but we would face life together and have each other to lean on when things got tough, and when things were good we would enjoy that together as well!

Life would be so much sweeter because of this marriage.
That's what I think is a BEST MARRIAGE.

My parents have been married for about 7 million years. They have 10 kids (I'm # 9) yet they still seem very much in lust with one another. They always have a little hug or kiss for each other when the see each other. They spend their evenings and weekends at home just enjoying each other's company. They still tease one another and laugh and have a good time.
My Oldest brother is 34 and he and his wife have been friends for 22 years. Even when my brother was in a car accident and lost both his legs my sister in law was with him every day. The two of them have always been a team, and one would never be the same with out the other.
These are two of the marrages I envy and hope to have one day. They all seem like they're incomplete without the other person and when they're together they're lives seem whole.

To me, the best marriage is one when you realize that you cannot control anyone except yourself. You cannot change anyone except for yourself. My husband and I retired young and have spent the last 3 years together, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. People cannot believe we can still stand eachother! We truly like being with eachother, that makes a huge difference.

It is very important to know what every relation needs to build up and to carry on for life.A any relation whether love, friendship, blood, marrige etc.....they all need care, love, mutual understanding, joint n unanimous decision making , freedom of expression with respect of each other and emotions together with feelings n devotion.
A marrige relation will be best if it posseses these quality of relation.Though nature of a person n responsibilty bearing attitude also matter here. But no human is perfect so if we find all the needed thing in a relation except few then one can manage only need to be devoted ,careful, n good listener with thinking application. i think it is enough for best marrige defenation to you friend.

Having a partner that is both your best friend and lover.
Having a sufficient amount of compromise, sympathy and forgiveness.
Having someone that helps you celebrate the good times and stands by you through the bad times.

Not expecting perfection, compromises, forgiveness, lots of love. For better or for worse should be just that...too many people bale at the first sign of trouble.
