My web browser won't open .pdf's all of a sudden unless I go to programs and manually open adobe, how to fix?

I had no problem with this until recently, it went into acrobat automatically...I don't know what I did to mess things up.

remove it in add/remove, then reboot, then reinstall it from adobe site.
