Im asking this because I feel that if a woman is raped or if her life is in danger that she should have a right to have a abortion. Lets
just say if the woman is raped for example, should she have to live with the rape and the product of the rape for the rest of her life? Or if her life may end because of the brith of a child then what happens to the child? I know this is a constat debate and that some people believe god lets things happen for a reason. But a womans body is hers . Or should we say she cant make that call when it come to life in her body?

In the case of rape, it is acceptable.
Medical issues that could result in the death of the child/mother, also acceptable.
In any other case, murder.
It should NOT be used for birth control.

as horrible as rape is- that precious child has a right to live. I know of several women who were raped and chose to carry their child to term= and place for adoption. I know that would be very hard to do- but later the woman could feel good about the decision- about the mom's life being at risk if she carried her child to full term- I know women personally who decided to take that risk and both they are their babies are fine. I do not know if you understand that those precious children are made in the image of God. God created that child no matter what. NO the woman's body is not the only body involved. You say some people feel that God lets things happen for a reason. That baby that is growing inside a woman, no matter when or how conceived heart beats 3 wks after conception before that woman knows she is pregnant. Granted the mom nourishes that little body until developed and birthed- however no where is that baby part of that woman's body- the abortion kills another human- but going beyond the obvious- it also can cause severe emotional, physical and spiritual risks for the woman- it does horrible things to the woman's body- excessive bleeding, torn uterus, later miscarriages and sometimes even a woman cannot conceive after having abortions. The product of the rape is a human being- remember that- it does not become human when it is born.

I think those who are against abortion aren't concerned about the mother as much as they think that abortion is murder. They say it isn't a persons right to choose because it's murder. But, I don't agree. By the time of an abortion, it's still mainly tissue and that tissue cannot survive outside the womb. I do not believe in abortion after the first trimester. They had three months to decide and it's way more invasive and requires surgery. Unless suddenly the mother is at risk.

As for rape victims, I couldn't imagine keeping a child, which would be a constant reminder of being raped and that child carries 1/2 the genes of a rapist.

And, those who say give the baby up for adoption if she was raped...uhm, no one would adopt a baby that has 1/2 the genes of a rapist. That child would forever be in foster homes and probably end up on the streets addicted to drugs or a criminal.

It is the child who is innocent in all of this, and a loving mother is totally able to "accept" the innocent child conceived in horrible circumstances because of a rape.
And, ask any mother - she would have gladly given up her life if it meant her baby would live (if it were a medical emergency).
Yes, a woman's body is hers. But the child is a total, whole another human being she is carrying, nourishing, and protecting. Just don't understand how a woman can kill a baby.
But, it comes down to whatever floats your boat....

Whether it is legal or illegal women will get abortions if they want abortions. I believe in a woman's right to choose what is best for her and her body no matter the circumstances (i.e. it doesn't have to be rape). But even if I didn't, it only makes sense to allow women to receive the best medical treatment (whether they're rich or poor) if the wish to have an abortion. When abortions were illegal in America rich women just went to a different country and had safe abortions -- poor women suffered because all the could afford were untrained people to help them end their pregnancy.

For the person who thinks a woman should have to carry a baby to term even if she was raped -- are you INSANE? It's not easy to be pregnant! For nine months the woman would be miserable having this constant reminder of her assault! Her body will change FOREVER and she'll have to go through labor and delivery all to bring a child into the world that has an EVIL man's genetics? GIVE ME A BREAK! If she wants to do that, then that's her decision, but she shouldn't be forced into something like that after she's already been victimized!

Oh and for all you CRAZY religious nuts -- if you LOVE babies soooo much, put your money where your mouth is and help these women raise the babies once they're born. You're all talk about how every life is precious, then you don't want to provide health care or food stamps for the babies once they're born -- you're hypocrites!!!

I am against abortion on any reasons except for if a mother is in danger like bleeding to death. In my view, I was a last minute considered baby to be aborted by my biological mother, but she decided to put me up for adoption instead. I have been give a second chance without being aware of it and raised by a wonderful parents and became a mother of two little boys. I cannot imagine to be aborted and not seeing my little boys. I always feel if the baby gets to a second chance to have its own her or his little own family one day if the federal government allow to destroy the father's name, etc as if the biological mother been raped in first place and help the mother to the adoption process with cost expenses through federal govt. So mother don't have to worry how the info reveal to the child or anyone else.

After all, I don't want to cause any back fires among the women who are for the abortion to be legalized. I don't agree lots of things about it. They do have the rights to given their thoughts like me. In this case, I may sound as naive to you, I wish there will be more harsh sentences for the rapists to do that to women and knowing not wear the condoms. I think impregnate the women is a like weapon. I wish the rapists get to have life or death penalty because it makes women's live harder even after having their babies aborted psychologically in women's minds.

I think if the person is a victim of rape having an abortion should be completely up to her.I know there are many women out there who can't conceive but i view rape as a violation of your body. How do u explain to this child who his/her father is?

definitely a woman's choice! However, I don't feel women should rely on abortion as birth control! There are many methods to prevent pregnancy, but I know accidents will happen (I have one 9 mos. old :) and he is the most joyous thing in my life! No way I would have an abortion:however, i'm married and stable. But 15yrs. ago, I was living in "bad" circumstances and chose to have one. I do not regret it at all! Everyone has their own circumstances and reasons, and that's between them and God,..NO one else!

Pro-choice all the way. To all the people who say women should put the baby up for adoption, have you seen the situation for adoptable children lately? Clearly, there AREN'T enough homes to go around for these children. Sure, some do get adopted, but the vast majority don't. Yes, there are alot of people who have fertitlity problems who want to adopt children, but not enough to take in all the children that would be in existance without abortion. So I ask all those people...why don't YOU adopt some of those unwanted children, even if you are able to have your own, instead of hounding those that feel an abortion is their best option.

And yes, I can have children. And yes, I'm going to adopt anyway.

I'd say that it's not the baby's fault that the woman was raped. If she doesn't want the baby she can put it up for adoption. Many women can't have children and are perfectly capable of taking care of a child. Why end a life?? A baby's life starts the moment it is conceived... so how can you kill that? Just because it is defenseless???

Yes it should be left up to the person. Ultimately the woman is responsible for the life inside of her and if she has the forethought to know she can't handle raising a child that is the result of rape why should she have to give birth to this child? Also if the matter of giving birth would jeopardize her life she should definitely have a choice. What if she is a single mother? I think the law should be left as it stands. Of course there are certain abuses of the law but what about certain scenarios.
