I am planning to either take the Roger Philipp USB drive course or the Becker cd-rom course. Both are good for a 12 month period. I have heard mixed reviews for both courses. Some say Roger's course is more interesting while the Becker's course is unpredictable on the professor teaching the course and can be boring at times. Some say the Becker review book is better than Roger's Wiley book. Please help. Need to make decision soon.

I think the decision is more based upon your style.

Becker is longer, more thorough but also a lot drier than Roger Philipp.

The funny thing is that I know Roger Philipp. He was an instructor when I was a student rep for Mark Dauberman CPA study. Roger was the best, most dynamic and interesting instructor by leaps and bounds. For me, I prefered to have it more interesting. I had all the books from my accounting courses (I was an accounting major), but I needed someone to (re)teach it to me so I would learn it, comprehend it and be able to put it into action. Like most students, I could memorize the formulas but was less than fantastic at putting it all together. Roger helped put it all together for me.

Becker was great for my colleagues. It was very thorough as evident by their coursework - which was nearly double what mine was. I can see that Roger has adopted almost all the same stuff as Dauberman. Don't have anything bad to say about my review course.

I passed the CPA exam, so I guess you could say it was a success.
