i need to know cos i am doin a profect on fish for school and i dont no if they can hear or not!

Short answer- yes, fish can hear. Fish have a hearing organ called a otolith that allows them to hear under water. Unlike humans which take in sound in an air medium and have liquid filled hearing organs, fish take in sound waves in a water medium an have a solid bony structure- the otolith. Otoliths are also vary useful for fish biologists as a way to age fish as otoliths develop layered levels of bone tissue much like age rings in a tree.

yes, that is partially why there are spinners on fishing lures and why splashing attracts sharks.

NPR recently had recordings of the noises that fish make to call each other. look for it on www.npr.org

yes fish can hear that is why you need to be quiet when fishing

Of course they can......that's why your advised not to tap the tank...sound carries through the water..
