elderley people should be engouraged to be independant and to make their own decisions about their future.

Don't know if I would be considered elderly at 64 with a husband who is 70 today but we certainly make our own decisions and are not dependent on other people in any way. Provided there are no health problems age is not a barrier to anything

They can be encouraged but this is not a warranty of having the means to afford independence.

We should respect their decisions however, but most important, we must take care of them coz life is a cycle, when we were kids we were protected by them, so now is our turn to take care of them...that simple.

100% we should all have the right to lead our own lives as long as physically and mentally possible, God willing we'll all get old one day ,then would you want someone running your life for you ?
