24 hours is what is correct, but I usually do it within 3 hours with no problem.

Just like anytime, you need to wait for the primer to be completely dry. You can tell if it is dry by lightly touching it. If you notice that it is slightly wet/ sticky, don't start painting yet, as the second coat will peel off the first. Wait until when you touch the wall, you just feel a plain dry wall. Depending on paint, it usually takes 3-5 hours. The best solution- Primer one day, leave over night, Next coat in the morning.

24 hours is the recommend time but depending on drying conditions ie if outside i would leave for 24 hours if inside 3to 4 hours
