If you have a degree in psychology, you cannot be a psychiatrist now. You need a medical degree (MD or DO) for that. If you want to become a psychiatrist, you need to complete medical school and psychiatry residency.
Here's what most graduates from Master's programs work:
Private For-Profit Organizations
Self-Employed
Private Non-Profit Organizations
University/Four-Year College
Other Educational Institution
Federal Government
State/Local Government
With a master's and a license, you can do counseling and therapy.

Will depend specifically on what your training was. I work for a nonprofit organization working with individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities. The master's level psychologists we have here (of which I am one) are called Applied Behavior Specialists. Their primary function is to do functional behavior assessments and behavior support plans. Some of us are also trained in cognitive assessment and counseling. My training is in school psychology, which is fairly comprehensive, so I am one of the ones who does all three. If you have coursework in FBA/BSP (and in my training, that was only one course encompassing both), then you could work as a behavior specialist in an organization like mine, or perhaps with emotionally disturbed children. The money is not great (I started at $36,000 two years ago, raises are around 2-3% per year), but it can keep the creditors at bay while you apply to a PhD program. My colleague is doing an online PhD program, which has the necessary accreditation for her to become licensed in New York state (where we live). Very tough criteria here in New York State. Very few people can get licensed with a master's degree--although it is possible, depending on your program--and the PhD has to be an approved program. She is probably working harder at the courses for the online program than she'd have to in regular classes, and it isn't free.
Other things you might be able to do with a master's in psychology... if you have a strong statistical background, you could go into marketing. This will work best if you already have some business experience.
Becoming a psychiatrist is a completely different path: you go to medical school, become an MD, then take on psychiatric training.
If you want to become a working psychologist at any level, I'd advise you to brush up on your writing skills. They're extremely important. Good luck.

If your friend has come this far and doesn't understand the educational system yet, she has a problem.
A PhD is next, and she would have to take some classes in Pharmacology to get this degree, in order to write prescriptions.
