and i thought that's bad but she had 4 healthy kids and she drank it alot too. i think it made me messed in the head lol.

It's not horrible -- it depends on how much coffee she drank. The worst thing about caffeine is that it blocks calcium absorption. If the baby isn't getting enough calcium from what you consume, it will draw calcium from the mother's bones! Your mom may have bone density problems due to that. Drinking 1 - 2 cups of coffee per day (no other caffeine) is not considered harmful.

It is just recommended that you drink no more than 300mgs of caffeine per day.

Instant Coffee - 5oz ~ 30-120mg
Espresso - single ~ 100mg
Cappuccino - single ~ 100mg
decaffeinated coffee ~ 5oz - 1-5mg
Brewed black tea ~ 5oz - 20-110mg
Green tea - 5oz ~ 8-36mg
Instant tea - 5oz ~ 25-50mg
Soft drinks - 12oz ~ 40-59mg
Milk Chocolate - 1oz ~ 1-15mg
dark chocolate, semisweet - 1oz ~ 5-35mg
Bakers chocolate - 1oz ~ 26mg
Hot cocoa - 8oz ~ 7mg

I drank caffiene all through my pregnancy. They are now finding that caffiene isn't as bad as once thought. But most everything is fine in moderation. Too much caffiene is not always a good thing.

While an excess of caffeine is not a great thing - it doesn't guarantee that something bad will happen with baby's development. Feel lucky that you and your sibs are healthy and drop the issue.
