Because they want to be able to leave in a hurry? Seriously, in some parking lots, it's easier to back into the space than to back out of it, because you would be backing into oncoming traffic, which is easier to see when you're facing out, especially if there is a BIG vehicle parked next to you.

People back into parking spaces so that they can leave easier. Im not sure if there is a huge benefit because either way you have to back in or back out.

Insurance Company's will tell you most accidents happen while are backing out of a parking space and recommend that you back into a parking space.

Im guessing they do it because they will not want to back out when they leave. Its really not different than waiting for someone to back out of a parking space then waiting for someone to back into.

Anyone that has been driving for years will tell you that reversing into a parking space is easier than driving into it.

so they can drive off easier than backing it away from the parking space and making sure no car behind them ect. basically, it's alot easier and faster

That is a burning question on my mind also, but I believe it's because it will be easier to leave the space if facing front.

I know, right, the only reason why I ever did was it was actually required for my driving test.
People only should do it when it will be imposible to back out, like on a busy street, much to the annoyance of the people behind them.

It makes pulling out faster and easier. But, yea if people are waiting its rude. Also you have have those anoying people that are wanting your space but theyve crawled so far up youre but they wont let you out of the space? "Duh back up buddy so I can get out and you can have my space!"
