Coal is considered to be a nonrenewable resource.

The primary difference between renewable & nonrenewable resources is:
Renewable resources are either always present or able to be replenished within a short period of time (days/weeks/months).
Nonrenewable resources are limited in their amounts. It will take too long (thousands of years) for these resources to be replenished.
