It means that they did not intend there to be a pun. A pun is a figure of speech which consists of a deliberate confusion of similar words or phrases for rhetorical effect, whether humorous or serious.

A pun is a type of joke in which words are used that have a similar sound, but a different meaning.
Example: One example of a pun would be `A pun is a 'pun'-ishable offense'.
It can also be a humorous substitution of words that are alike in sound but different in meaning, as in this passage from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll:
And how many hours a day did you do lessons?” said Alice, in a hurry to change the subject.
“Ten hours the first day,” said the Mock Turtle, “nine the next, and so on.”
“What a curious plan!” exclaimed Alice.
“That's the reason they're called lessons,” the Gryphon remarked: “because they lessen from day to day.” :-)
"No pun intended", means that the person speaking didn't mean to make a pun.

It just means that they didn't mean to make a pun when they said something that was related to the situation.
For example, the other day I was watching a movie with my boyfriend and a character in it got beheaded. I said "Gee looks like he was headed for disaster" and we both laughed, but of course I intended to make the pun.

"No Pun" is a way of saying I'm not trying to make a joke or light of the subject or situation. This is said when you comment about a subject or situation and what you have said can be interpreted in a way other than it was meant.

Like if somone who lost a hand needed to change a tire, and another person came up to him and asked if he needed a hand, then said, "No pun Intended."
