Reading through some of the questions and answers on here, do you think it reflects a weakness in the UK`s education system? There are so many basic spelling mistakes and gramatical errors. It worries me.

This has been the case for a long time, it's only now that people can broadcast their views on here in their own words, that it's showing just how illiterate they really are.

I reckon in a few years from now, phrases like "can I get" or "over their" will be the norm. The worst thing is that it will all be put down to natural progression of language.

The education system in the UK started to go down hill after the O-levels were replaced with the GCSEs. This was shortly after I moved here from Italy with my parents, who were both educated here.

Spelling no longer seems to count, except in an English exam. Grammar is rarely taught in schools and the number of double negatives used is appalling.

Society doesn't need an mass-educated work force any longer. We are being educated to a functional level and if all you need is the ability to punch numbers into a computer, no-ones going to teach you how to express yourself on YA. Welcome to the new class distinctions of Britain.

Agreed to a degree, but isn't it part of youth culture to deliberately spel fings rong? Text talk for example? Or is the game taking over the reality?

You should try interviewing school leavers looking for a job. Lordy, lord. Actually, you should try interviewing university grads; they're not much better. I really don't know what Blair meant when he said, 'education, education, education', unless he was making sure we heard him.

there's so many mistakes that people make deliberately its not because they've not been educated properly, if they wanted completely correct grammar and spelling they would use Spell Check.
