Hurricane Katrina was a natural disaster and Sept. 11 was a terrorist attack. Yes they were both tragic events but mother nature isn't a terrorist. Mother nature does things to us almost every day to cause death and destruction. Those people in Katrina's path were warned to leave and didn't heed the warnings. They knew it was coming and what could happen. In a terrorist attack there is no warning. It just happens.
I'm really sorry that you almost died. I'm also willing to bet that the next time a hurricane warning goes out that more people will leave. If you live below sea level it's not a good place to stay.
We can't do anything about what mother nature has in store for us but they want us to remember the terrorist attacks and keep a watchful eye out for anything strange going on around us and that's why they try to keep it fresh in our memories.

Lot's of human beings died in both one among this stuff. i imagine 9/11 became the worst. hurricane Katrina became undesirable too because a majority of those were trapped in there homes without foodstuff and yea there bodies were floating round and rotting. I also comprehend that youthful ones coundn't pass decrease back to there faculties for a lengthy time period, like 3 months. I felt truly sorry for both between the failings and for the individuals.

When Katrina hit New Orleans and the other cities, it could have been prevented by the Mayor and Governor of the state, they where given plenty of time to evacuate the cities. They failed. They where to worry about their image and what the newspapers would say if they made a mistake. Well they made a lot, people died , there where a lot of sick and injured people and children suffered. You can rebuild. Did this cause us to go to War NO it did not.
911 can not rebuild. This caused a War. .
Sorry to hear you almost died, but so did a lot of others. My in-laws lost their house and everything they owned. But they left early enough to survive

I don't expect you to forget it. But I do expect you to pick up and repair and move on with your life. The various govt. entities in La. from the mayor up to the gov. are dragging their feet. Billions of dollars have been given to that state. How much has the Dem. run govt. given to the people to get their lives put back together? As far as the rest, I don't want to seem cold, but you weren't attacked by terrorists.
Natural disasters happen all over this country and people pick up and move on. I have had a house burn down 2 days before Christmas, but I didn't sit around looking for sympathy. I put my life back together. I see people lose everything to tornadoes.
What do you want? The pity party is over.
Terrorists are still a problem and hurricane Katrina is gone.

Remember. You should remember. Use that memory in the future to know the right choice to make when another hurricane hits. We need also to ensure that 9/11 doesn't happen again either.

Americans were warned about the natural disaster that was the Hurricane Katrina, however the president chose not to act on this warning. I guess people try to forget as they are ashamed, they should also be ashamed they are forgetting the victims of this disaster. My heart goes out to you and your family. I am terribly sorry that you feel the world has forgotten, but we haven't, maybe Americans have but the world has not.

Because we can't bomb Mother Nature.
Seriously, though. Get over it. For your own good. When I was teaching, I had a student who had survived Hurricane Andrew, and ten years later, was still obsessed with it. It was pretty pathetic.
Bad things happen. Mourn, then move on. There are a lot of good things in life that you'll miss if you insist on hanging on to your traumas.

Well they are rebuilding in NY, MS, & TX.
Aid was dump into New Orleans and nobody is doing anything with it.
It is time for those people in LA to take care of themseleves and right now the Mid West is dealing with their own natural diasters so time to take care of yourself for a while.
9/11 people die and that threat is real.
We are out of hurrican season so rebuild or move.

Maybe they don't realise how devastating it was. Why don't you write about it, put it down on paper, get it published. I'd love to know more about it, for one! If you've got nothing to do, why don't you tell me about it?
Also, 9/11 was a planned murderous attack. We rely on people to behave and when they don't it makes us realise how fragile we are.

Because, dear one, the mis-perception is that the victims of Katrina were all black, irresponsible, gang-banging, drug-addled riff-raff.
And if you can find a sadder commentary on the state of America during this Black History Month, I'd like to hear it. And no, I'm not black, I'm of German/Irish descent...
