"Subtle indeed is the difference betwixt tha gifted sense and the common sense"-PH maharaj. A person with common sense is the attentive kind. He uses his innate and acquired thinking to carve a way out of an uncomfortable situation and suffer as minimum loss as possible. But an intelligent person is a step further. He uses the situation to his own purpose. E.g. Sehwag gets out edging to a bouncer;he is a buddhu. If Dhoni drops his bat down in time and saves his wicket, his has common sense and when Sachin times the same bouncer and sends it gliding over the slips, he has played an intelligent shot. I hope its now clear.
(sorry for the pathetic quotation at the top; lol)

Yahoo Answers is the difference. Even common sense questions or answers can pass of as intelligent ones based on how the questioner is inclined (some best answers proves this statements)

common sense is you look at a situation and you more instinctly know how to fix it.
Intelligent people want to analyze the situation, then theorize all the ways to fix it then come up with a game plan
and the one with the common sense has already jumped in and half way fixed it before the intelligent ones are even done at the drawing board.

Really there is a sublte difference between common sense and intelligence.
Common sense is when I was in peer pressure I just argued very tactfuly and won it only to win enemies.

Intelligence is I must have avoided arguement and as It would fetch nothing in fact.
