I have two young sons (5 months and 3 years) and whenever people ask what to buy for them, I always tell them toys geared for that age bracket (ones that teach letters and colors are the BEST) and of course clothes. But if you buy clothes remember to look for clothes one size up. Buy 18 month outfits instead of 12 month. Chances are he has enough of the current size and not many of the size ahead. My oldest son was always ahead of the game, when he turned one year he was in 18 month clothes and everyone bought him 12 month, so they were useless. Also, I good idea is diapers, sippy cups and that sort of thing. You can make a gift basket out of it and you won't have to worry about getting him the same thing as everyone else and it will be something that he will definently need. The parents will probably be overly-grateful!

For my nephew's first christmas (he was born 2 days after the holiday, so it fits) I got him clothes (talk to the parents for sizes...I have a 9 month old nephew who's wearing 18 month clothes), some of those peekaboo blocks (can see through them, and the kids love gnawing on the), an elmo cd player (can't go wrong with elmo, and the kids love the music it makes), some "Weebles" toys, and a push toy that he could walk behind. (the toys were half for christmas, half for his birthday)

i think u can give him clothes but if i were u i would spend lots of time with my son give him lots of love and i think he will be happy for that u need to show the baby how much u care about him thats the most important thing because one year old baby doesnt really know about toys and stuff like that all they need is ur love :)

The best gift is to buy son=me cotton clothes or some fancy dress rather dont buy any dolls.

I would buy some clothes, since baby s in this age grew a lot. parents are always happy when they get fancy clothes for their babies

buy him any learning games from fisher frice, as is d best ,When d kids plays their tendency is always to break but trust me it is unbreakable. so it will last long and also ur son can learn.

one year babies love games that make sounds.. for example a small piano game that has many colors & makes many sounds.. something like that would be great !

Try Fisher Price products . they are very safe and are interactive which keeps the child involved and keeps him busy!!!
