Isn't it obvious that Americans (I'm not American) have contributed more to the world in EVERY area than any other nation in history. They are new and have a phenomonal success story. Why is the rest of the world trying to tear them down? Because we distrust their immense power?

It seems like it's a love hate kind of thing when it comes to people about Americans. I'm American and we have our good and bad sides. Our bad being, we ruin the environment, we think it's cool to use as much gas as possible, and we can't stay out of ANYONES business. (that's because we like drama and ours isn't enough) The good sides being we are probably the nicest people in the world, we try to help everyone even if they are our enemies (sometimes even when we shouldn't be helping them), we are progressing technology at a blinding speed, and we are will accept anyone.

Those are just a few examples but you get the point.

Well, as an American, I think we do have a lot of arrogant people who give the rest of us a bad reputation. Some of our citizens give the impression that this is the best country in the world. It's not. It's one of the best, but there are several other countries that are just as good maybe even better in that they seem to care about their poorest and most vulnerable people than I perceive some of the people in our country do. Some of our citizens don't seem to care at all about the damage being done to the environment and are wasteful. I think perhaps the image of us in the media plays a big part in how we are seen. The media seems to focus on the worst of our population--Britany Spears, Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, the spoiled brats on My Super-Sweet Sixteenth. I'm appalled by those people and others like them. I can just imagine what a person in another country would think if that is all they know of us.

I am American and do not feel that any country should be jealous of us. Other countries have pushed education as the way to get ahead and encouraged their people to pursue it so their children will have a better way of life. America talks about it, spends lots of money talking about the programs they have set up but really there are a lot of children who are not learning and are being advanced and graduated from high school (or drop out) because of their age! They can receive diplomas stating that they have attended 12 years of school, but that is not saying that they have learned anything to prepare them for the real world. Don't be jealous of America. Racism runs abound here. Our president would like to cut health care benefits to fund the Iraqi war (why is the United States over there?). Prisons are filled with innocent men and women of color and the ones in charge do not hear their cry for fairness. The United States invests more in building prisons than they do in education --- schools or program. No, do not be jealous of America. They are arrogant without a cause to be. Have you heard the saying Charity begins at home? The United States should help their own people before reaching out to others, although I do think we should HELP others in need, not tell them how to live or to get them to conform to the way we live.

Alot of people will look at America because of they're unity and overal success in history. The United States are powerful and demand some attention. However lately, they been having problems.

The current administration has brought down the moral of the people who were thought once as great and generous people. Now, the american people are thought as intolerant white christians who invade whoever has oil or ressources in the name of "American interests."

I hope this current trend changes because ever since this war on terror started, everything has been blown out of proportion. A great many things need to change in order to repair and reverse the damges made by a hanful of power people who's intentions and heart(or lack thereof) did not lay in the best interest of the people.

cheers

Because some Americans don't know how to use or they abuse that power. America has done some not-so-smart things lately, and it seems that our standards for things have gotten really messed up. But, America has been really influential to all sorts of things, and we shouldn't forget history

Yes, but we tend to also be arrogant, and actually think we are better, or OUR WAY is better, than everyone else on earth. I think to spread Democracy and the "American way" it should be done by example, and sharing the "greatness" and then if someone wants it, they can. Otherwise we need to leave other countries alone and stop trying to be the boss of the playground!

jealousy isnt really the word for it..but I am American and i do think some people have a problem with our way of life. its not the jealousy of what we have accomplished but our way of life and how much easier it is for us. but the way we live isnt hard to accomplish if people just lighten up in the world.
