The type that are like a convertible hood but just run the full length of a hard-top car rook. I am considering getting one for my Mini (69) but am worried about A) security- are they easy to get thru from the outside? And B) wind resistence- apparently they fold open like a concertina and so wouldn't this be extremely noisy if you were at speed?

Anyone who's had one please answer!

Thanks!

I had a full length Webasto sunroof on a Mk1 Escort Mexico, back in the 70's.

Wonderful in the summer.

A bit noisy on the motorway, though.

I locked myself out of the car once, but managed to get a coat hanger in through the sunroof, and unlock it!

They can be prone to slashing by thieves, although I never had this problem.

Overall rigidity of the bodyshell is compromised a little. When I sold the car, the roof at the front corners of the opening had small cracks appearing.

It looks like they still make them....

I would be very warey about fiting a full length sunroof on a mini, reason being if ur talking about the old mini's the dont have a chassis and the strength of the shell depends on the whole body structure, i would fit a standard hatch roof.

re new mini, well as I am now out of windscreen trade for a long time and I havent seen the construction of new mini , i am sorry i cannot comment on it.

Webasto sunroofs are a very old design and were popular in the sixties and seventies cars,i had one on an old cortina and it was nice when open but let in damp and rain at speed and it was quite noisy.there are alternatives on the market that are of better design and quality, but i believe that stockist are rare as it is not a popular accessory any more.expensive too.
