They make great pets! I have one and another on the way. If raised properly with correct husbandry and feeding they can live up to 10 years. If you get them young you can get them used to being handled and are very docile. My girl loves to hang out on my shoulder around the house.

The initial cost of set up for correct husbandry can be a little on the expensive side. You will need an enclosure (aquarium or you can get a custom built one). The minimum size for an adult is the equivilant of a 40 gallon breeder tank or 36L X 18W. They require more floor space than vertical space. You will need a (flourescent type) fixture with a UV bulb with a minimum output of 8.0, 10.0 is recommended. You will also need a fixture with a basking light. You can use a regular household bulb for this. A digital thermometer is a must to ensure a proper basing temperature (95-105 for adults, 100-110 for juvie/babies). Substrate (flooring) is a very debatible topic for breeders and owners. I prefer a non particle substrate. I have ceramic tile. Its easy for cleaning and unless I drop and break a tile, never needs to be replaced. Some people use sand or repti bark for their substrate. Both of these if injested, can cause impaction which can be deadly for a dragon. If you choose to use a sand, avoid anything colored or labled calci-sand. Best to avoide ALL pet store substrates. The best kind to use is washed sifted play sand that you can get at any hardware store.

Feeding is pretty easy. You will need greens/veggies provided fresh daily. For protein, crickets are great. Babies can eat upwards of 50-75 a day. Once they get older that number drops off.

They do. Although the babies don't because they are extremely fragile!

Yes, if you can find one, since they don't exist, except in one's fantasies.
